Research - The popularity of action games

During the creation of this game, I have done personal research into action games as a whole and how popular they have become through the course of its history. Ring Rush fits into these categories as a 2d platforming game that depends on your ability to move around and react to the boss' attacks. You play as a single character, a protagonist as you complete boss fights to complete the game.

Most research documents place action games in the top 10 most played genres, and as seen from the image provided Action games have been popular since their release in the 1980's, and with the genre climbing again towards the end of the 2010's now is a good time to create a game to go with the trend of action games being popular.
